Last night I went to see Flight Of The Conchords at Wembley Arena. I took a couple of photos on my rubbish camera phone. It makes it look like we were much further away than we actually were.
It was an excellent night with many moments of tear-inducing laughter, one highlight being the new madrigal-style song ‘To Woo A Lady’ (the actual performance I saw on Youtube here).
Below is shot of the (very full) arena.
’One of the impediments to successful democracy in our age is the complexity of the modern world, which makes it increasingly difficult for ordinary men and women to form an intelligent opinion on political questions, or even to decide whose expert judgement deserves the most respect. The cure for this trouble is to improve education, and to find ways of explaining the structure of society which are easier to understand than those at present in vogue. Every believer in effective democracy must be in favour of this reform. But perhaps there are no believers in democracy left...’ Bertrand Russell, 1932
I’ll be talking about my work in Newcastle-under-Lyme on 14 May, and then exhibiting new work in Southall, West London in early June.
The talk is for the New Generation Space Project and is ‘aimed at artists of all ages, who wish to develop their skills and knowledge further.’ I’ll be talking about how my work and practice has developed over the years.
The exhibition is for Departure Gallery, a ‘London-based contemporary art gallery exhibiting in temporary and permanent spaces in London and throughout the UK.’ More info on this to follow.
News, forthcoming shows, work in-progress, writing, and other things I get up to or find interesting.
