Wisdom of Solomon

Collaborative project.
2006

Exhibited at Normalife Unlimited, Neal's Yard, London.
10 - 22 January 2006.

'Invited artists were requested to bring along a piece of work (a 'made' piece of work perferred to an object trouve - so as to maximise 'ownership' of work) of 'modest' size and weight - under 50cm3 and weight max 10lbs. of any subject of the artists' choosing.
Choose one other artists' work to engage with. All works of art will be 'cut' into 2 pieces with (and needs to be cut-able by) one of the supplied tools - scissors, stanely knife, hack saw, jigsaw, tin snips, in the space, by the artists themselves, through a joint negotiation of each artist and the artist they end up working with.
Each pair of artists join together the 2 pieces of their halved artworks to produce a joint ownership, complete work of art. This will be displayed for the duration of the show in the space. The other half of the divided works will be 'swapped' within each artist pair. (each artists receiving the remaining half of the other artist's work) each artist will then have until the autumn to complete an artwork for display. ie each artist will 'build' a new half for the work they have, to produce another joint ownership art work. 2 artworks will thus become 3 joint ownership/creation art works.
The final destination/ownership of all resulting dual production artworks will be up to the artists involved to decide upon.'

Participants included: Dædalus, Dave Ball, Ant Macari, David McKeran, Adam Walker, Rich White.
