i returned to exp003 today.
this was a response to the flooring which, since last time i was here, has suddenly risen underneath the work (and in other areas too) as if the whole building has got smaller and squished the floor. of course i think it is really the timber floor that has expanded but i like the idea. i’ve altered the long, lower board so that is now cut short by a new growth coming out of a recess in the floor.
i’ve also added this piece on the corner. i’m thinking of adding a piece at the other end also, making the work larger than the wall that it is built out from.

back in manchester for the final week of CUBElab. i’m going to concentrate on refining the three works (experiments 002, 003 and 004) with the possibility of them being something like finished by the time i leave. as i mentioned before, i’m not setting out to make ‘finished’ pieces - just experiment until the idea has run it’s course, or until it gets to a point where it satisfies me.
