it already looks like the white boards are growing out of the original building, maybe i just need to help them with their progress - squeeze the space down to it’s logical conclusion.

i took these photos of a great fire escape in manchester’s chinatown this morning - this might form the basis of a new work in the space.

this work is based on the fire escape.

i’ve removed the top half of the board that formed the wall and used it to make the platforms. it’s like a kind of archeology trying to find the screws in the board - looking for tell-tale changes in the paint surface and then scraping away to reveal the screwhead beneath.
i don’t know when human eyes last saw that brickwork either?
