Nara and Hiroshige

Popped over to London yesterday to see two shows by Japanese artists separated by 160+ years.

First up, Yoshitomo Nara at the Hayward Gallery.

Excellent show highlighting Nara's subverted pop-culture tinged paintings, drawings and sculptures.

Next, Utagawa Hiroshige at the British Museum.

Beautiful work from the prolific woodblock artist.

I always forget how refreshing it is to see other artist's work.

All New Counterwork

I've had a complete revamp of my website. It was time to update the outdated content management system, which pretty much meant erasing everything and starting from scratch. I'm slowly back-filling the site with older works, so bear with me if you're looking for something from the early days.

In other news, I've got two small exhibitions coming up: I'm showing Broken Mirror Drawings at the Spike Island Open Studios event (2nd - 4th May) as part of 'Condition Report' - a display of work by Spike Island freelance technicians; and I'm showing new sculpture and drawings in The Corridor, also at Spike Island, in August July. This exhibition will be viewable by appointment only.

It's good to be getting on with things again.
